News and Stuff From and about Amber Caldwell

My best friend and I the other day were talking about how certain people will change when they are around others. How they will act one way with you, than turn around and act another way with someone else. Like they are worried about what people think about them. It got me thinking....
Why do we care so much about how others see us? We may say that other people's oppinons of ourselves have no worth to us, that their view of us won't dictate who we are. But take a look around you. Look how people dress, talk, act. They all try to act "cool" or make sure they are up-to-date on the newest songs or clothes. Why is that that when we look at cerain people they look strange to us because they are wearing velcro shoes or "high-water" pants? Who defines what's "cool" and what's not?
We all seem to have this constant, lingering voice in our head that says "I wonder what she/he thinks of me?" or "I wonder what my reputation is?" You would think that a simple, meaningless question wouldn't plague one so much, but obviously it bothers a large amount of the population. We will go and spend large amounts of money on our designer jeans, the newest Nikes and spend 30 mins reading up on what the latest trend is.
Why does it matter? Why does our culture have to change? Why do we have to change for others? We don't. Don't worry about what others think of you. Be yourself, save your money and your time for more important things in life. Don't let the world dictate who you are. It's kinda like those Master Card commercials.... Hair cut and hilights: $90. Abercrombie jeans: $70. Blue Nikes: $80. Knowing who you are: priceless.
It was just a thought.......

People are very adaptable creatures and can change from pesonality to personality from person to person and it is not always neccesarily in order to please the said person whom they are interacting with.
I have different levels of relationships with most people in my life and each person brings out a different part of who I am...some people I am more serious with and discuss important subjects in a respectful manner...some bring out the child in me and we tell jokes, muck around, laugh and take it easy.....others ..a mothering instinct exudes me.....I could go on and on but I'm sure you know where I am coming from. Many different people ...many different moods.
Although, when someone is obsessed with how others see them and go against their nature to act as someone they are not because they feel that is what the person would like them to be it is very dangerous for the stability and wellbeing of the individual as to keep such a charade up would be awesomely tiresome and mentally draining.
There is never the need to do or wear or buy something because you want to look good to other people as that is not what draws people to another...what draws people to other people is their confidence and assuredness in themselves.
To be yourself is freedom to be false is encaged.
