Finally, Chris Simms got to start in his first NFL game.....I missed it. I didn't even know that Simms had played today until someone else told me, and even then I didn't believe that Johnson would be benched and Simms would get to play over Griese. What happened? I missed it. The game that I had been waiting for a yr to happen and I just had to miss it.
Starting QB Brad Johson was benched and 2nd yr Chris Simms came into the game with 10:32 left in the first half.
"We were looking for a spark. We felt that Chris could come in and give us a different perspective, and he did" said head coach John Gruden after the game.
Simms went 21-32 for 175 but unfortunately threw an INT and wasn't able to produce the points the Bucs needed to win. The Buccaneers lost to the Seahawks and fell to 0-2, losing their third straight game at home.
“I’m proud of our team,” said Head Coach Jon Gruden, who declined to name next week’s starter after the game. “They competed very hard today. I’m disappointed obviously in the outcome. We made a quarterback change today to give our team a lift. I thought Chris did some good things in the game."
